Dear Music Lovers and Supporters,
As an alternative to the regular schedule of Beaufort Symphony Orchestra concerts during this COVID-19 pandemic time, we are working with Maestro Fred Devyatkin to prepare weekly messages to the BSO audience. These messages could offer up recordings from past BSO concerts, interviews with BSO musicians, discoveries of new music that we may perform and other information.
Our first offering is a medley of songs from the musical “Chicago” from a concert by the BSO in May 2015 at the Sea Island Presbyterian Church. The music is by John Kander and arranged by Victor Lopey; the lyrics are by Fred Ebb and the original book is by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. “Chicago” opened in 1975 and explores the themes of celebrity, scandal and corruption in Jazz Age Chicago. A few of the most popular songs include “All That Jazz” and “Razzle Dazzle.” The musical was based on the play “Chicago” by Maurine Dallas Watkins. The recording is on YouTube BSO playing Chicago.
Sincerely,
Entire BSO Board & Musicians
P.S. Now, more than ever, your support is critical during this COVID-19 pandemic. Please, if you are able, a donation to the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra would help us to continue our mission. Thank you for your patience and support.
