Dear Music Lovers and Supporters,

  • Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the USCB Center for the Arts
The October 9, 2022, concert will feature violin soloist Lilyanne Thoroughman, who is sponsored by the Prodigy Project. Miss Thoroughman is 15 years old. She will be performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61. The “Lilyanne Thoroughman plays Dvorak Romance” video on YouTube shows her performing the Dvořák Romance in F minor, Op. 11.

The January 29, 2023, concert will feature the return visit of piano soloist Susan Merdinger. Ms. Merdinger will be performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in B♭ minor, Op. 23. Ms. Merdinger soloed with the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra in October 2021, when she performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor" in E♭ major, Op. 73, which is on YouTube at Movement 1 and Movements 2 and 3.

The March 5, 2023, concert will feature Americana music. The concert will feature the Dvořák Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" in E minor, Op. 95, which Dvořák composed in 1893 while he lived in New York City and was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America. We are still working on the rest of the programming for this concert…so more to follow.

The June 4, 2023, concert will have a dance theme. The concert will feature Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty,” Handy’s “Saint Louis Blues” and Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances.”  Keep your eyes out for additional programming to get your feet stomping and hands clapping!

As each concert date gets close, we shall update you with more details.

Sincerely,

BSO Board and Musicians
