Dear Music Lovers and Supporters,
This week’s musical offering is from The Sound of Music. The recording is from a concert by the BSO in March 2017, and is on YouTube: BSO plays The Sound of Music. The music from the 1959 musical The Sound of Music was composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
About the music, Maestro Fred Devyatkin writes, “The Sound of Music. Richard Rodgers, winner of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony (known as an EGOT), is one of only two composers so honored (along with Marvin Hamlisch). In addition, Rodgers won a Pulitzer prize. This is one of his greatest works. Enjoy!”
Thank you to everyone who has and continues to donate to the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra.
Sincerely,
Entire BSO Board & Musicians
