This week’s music offering is the 2nd Movement Canzonetta: Andante from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The recording is from a concert by the BSO in May 2018 and is on YouTube: BSO plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto Canzonetta. The violinist is Tamás Kocsis.
About the music, Maestro Fred Devyatkin writes, “The gorgeous lyrical middle movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, the juicy reward for mastering the two outer movements. In a concert from 2018, Tamás Kocsis performs it masterfully, with lush tone, impeccable intonation, sensitive phrasing, with subtle accompaniment from the BSO.”
