The Beaufort Symphony Orchestra
PRODIGY PROJECT

prodigy project

The Beaufort Symphony Orchestra Board supports the Prodigy Project program which seeks and promotes youthful virtuosos in performance with the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra. to “Keep the Music Live!” in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Any donation will have a tremendous impact. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to us to the young perft.

  • The founder of the Prodigy Project played trumpet with his high school jazz band. In his junior year, Bruce was blown away by the experience of watching Louis Armstrong on stage when the artist visited his town. He felt the music and energy in the concert hall as much as he could hear it.
Afterward, he met and talked with Armstrong and then bought every Louis Armstrong record he could find. He listened to all of them, but the reproductions were unable to duplicate the wonder he felt at the live concert. The pursuit of musical emotion followed him throughout his life.
In 2016, the idea of the Prodigy Project was conceived. The Project identifies young, potential "21st Century Superstars" and offers them the chance to perform for their first time as professional soloists, creating musical as well as emotional magic with the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra.
As Bruce puts it, "People don't cry listening to recordings. People cry at live performances."
  • The Prodigy Project was established to provide compensation and travel funds to young classically-trained musicians worldwide and the opportunity to play professionally with a symphonic orchestra. We want to increase the capacity of the Prodigy Project to bring young musicians from wherever they live.
